Could do for Mess Kits what Swiss Army did for knives

Once there was something called the jackknife, a practical tool. Then came Swiss Army
knives and the jackknife suddenly became an international bestseller. Today, Light My Fire thinks their new Mealkit will completely re-define how people eat their meals away from home.

For decades, eating away from home meant two options: a backpack with a traditional mess kit or a picnic basket and paper plates. Now, there is a third option: Light My Fire’s new Mealkit.

“We think the Light My Fire Mealkit will not only become one of the most successful outdoor products of the year, it may well become one of those cross-over products that find a much larger market in department stores, gift stores, novelty chains and barbecue
The Light My Fire Mealkit comes in four designer colors - one for every member of the
family or for each of your friends or guests - and includes two plates, a spill-free cup,
a “spork” (a combined spoon and serrated fork), a small waterproof box, a colander
and a cutting board – all packed away inside each other. Made out of dishwasher safe,
environmentally-friendly PP plastic, the kit floats and is as practical in a backpack
or boat as it is in a picnic basket or as a lunch box.

Scandinavian design

The Mealkit was created by Joachim Nordwall, a Scandinavian designer with experience
from sports cars (Koenigsegg and Honda) and appliances (Electrolux). The result was
different from anything we’d seen before. Simple and ingenious.”

“Suddenly, we had a product that makes as much sense in the city as it does in the wild.
In this age of digital gadgetry, we’ve almost forgotten the thrill of clever everyday objects. My experience with this product is that once you see it, you’ll want to touch it. And, once you touch it, you’ll want to have it.”

Light My Fire is a Sweden-based company that sells fire-making products all over the
world. Our famous FireSteel and Maya Sticks have practically re-invented fire-making.
Now, Light My Fire has applied its creative spark to something closely related to fire
and the outdoors: eating.
